First Visit
The community entrance will be staffed with Edinburgh Leisure team members who will be able to direct you through to the sports area and pool hall.
As you enter the venue from the car park, you will approach the main reception doors. These doors are remotely controlled by the Edinburgh Leisure staff. When you arrive, the doors will be locked. Please press the intercom system next to the door.
Please select only the “COMMUNITY” button. Do not select the “Janitor” button, as this will not be picked up.
Changing Rooms:
The changing rooms are open and available to use before and after your lessons. The setup is a changing village with cubicle facilities.
We kindly ask that clothing is not left within the changing rooms during lessons. These areas are communal and will also be used by members of the public. Please ensure you remove all personal items from the changing room for the duration of the lesson.
Showering:
There are poolside showers for rinsing when exiting the pool. Due to space, we anticipate these showers will primarily be used by swimmers only. The poolside area is limited, so it is unlikely that parents will be able to support swimmers here. Swimmers old enough to operate the showers are welcome to use them once they have been matched with their parent or guardian. Additional showers are available in the changing village, which may provide a more practical space for parents to accompany swimmers.
Please follow venue signage and staff instructions regarding blue shoes in the changing areas and poolside. Please also note that this venue may be used by members of the public during lessons. Children should not be left unattended at any time.
Identifying your teacher:
When attending your first lesson, please let the class teacher know that it is your first visit. This will help them locate you on the class list. Our team will be wearing bright blue Stepping Stones t-shirts. Remember to download the Stepping Stones app, which has all the information you need for your first lesson, including your teacher’s name. Our poolside team will also help direct you to your class teacher.
Spectating & Viewing
Spectating is not permitted poolside. The poolside area is very tight and becomes wet during the lessons.
There are also areas within the school where parents can wait while lessons take place.
Viewing at this venue is limited. There are windows from the community café area into the pool, however these are controlled by Edinburgh Leisure. We have been notified that viewing will not be possible, and when the pool is in use, the blinds over the windows will remain closed.
Public swimming sessions are available alongside lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. If you wish to view your child’s lesson, you may be able to book into a community swim session at the same time. This would need to be arranged directly with Edinburgh Leisure.

Pick Up & Drop Off
Swimmer Drop Off:
Swimmers will be picked up at the entrance to the changing village.
Swimmer Collection Point:
Swimmers will be dropped off up at the entrance to the changing village.
Please note to ensure the safety of all our swimmers we have asked our teaching team to ensure that swimmers are handed over to a responsible adult at the end of each lesson this is regardless of age. Please arrive on time for the start and end of your scheduled lesson to ensure the smooth transition of classes.
Showering time, the number of showers may be limited for busier sessions, please be mindful of other pool users and limit the extended use of showers at peak times.
* All lessons are 30mins in length.

Swim Kit
Swim Shorts:
We recommend that swim shorts do not pass below the swimmers knee.
Swim Costume:
It is recommended but not essential that swim costumes are one piece.

Goggles
Goggles are an essential piece of kit during the lessons.
Even if your swimmer does not like goggles we recommend bring a set along to each lesson.
This will help your swimmer speed through the programme.

Equipment
All other equipment will be provided poolside for use during the lessons.
Armbands and other floatation devices are not required for our lessons.
Our teaching team work with floats and noodles through the lessons to support all swimmers.
