Pre School-

Our Preschool is our entry level and is aimed to develop swimmers with little or no previous swimming experience. The aim of this course is to develop basic movement in the pool with support. The age range for this class is aimed at swimmers aged 3-4 years old. Swimmers still require teacher support for each swimmer e.g. holding noodles or working 1:1 swims. If swimmers see teachers demonstrating skills they will be more likely to do it.

Skill required-

·    Comfortable and relaxed in the swimming pool environment.

·    The ability to sit without support on the poolside.

·    The ability to receive and understand instructions.

The objective of the class is to build independence in the pool while learning the basic skills required e.g blowing bubbles into submerged eyes.

Distance covered-

No more than 5m when working with a group on noodles, 1-3m when working 1-2-1 with swimmers in the pool.

Lesson Ideas-

  • Jumping into noodles (builds confidence to jump in without support)

  • Star floats (to encourage a streamlined position)

  • Jumping and teacher meets swimmer underwater for a wave (allows swimmers to feel supported when jumping in)

  • Group work on noodles (encouraging different aspects of the stroke e.g. leg kick, bubbles, eyes submerged)
